Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, each consisting of nine players. The game is played on a field with a diamond-shaped layout, featuring four bases arranged in a square. The objective of baseball is to score runs by hitting a pitched ball with a bat and then running around the bases to reach home plate.

The team in the field defensively tries to prevent runs from scoring by getting batters or base runners “out” through various methods such as catching batted balls, throwing the ball to a base before the runner arrives, or striking out the batter. The offensive team aims to score runs by successfully hitting the ball and advancing around the bases before the defensive team can record three outs.

The game consists of nine innings, during which each team alternates between batting and fielding. Baseball is known for its unique terminology, strategies, and statistical traditions. It is often referred to as America’s pastime and has a rich history and cultural significance in the United States and other countries where it is played.
